A SUFFERING PEOPLE

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?  1 Peter 4:17

week ending 11/15/09
Step Toward A Godly Walk uses the Interntational Sunday School Lessons in the hopes more Christians will take Jesus with them throughout the day.  And The New Living Translation of The Bible because that is the one easiest for me to understand and apply to my life.  Maybe if more of us are reading the same scriptures we can use our discussions to expose others to the Living Word of God and the Savior he provided for us all in a positive way.

Prepare your mind to being shaped by God....

Close your eyes and use your breathing to set the rhythm of your prayer.
As you breath in.......relax.....
imagine drawing into yourself
the goodness of
 Jesus.

Love, Forgiveness, Peace, Holiness
As you breath out....relax further.........imagine letting go and giving out:
hate, resentment, revenge, unkindness.

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?  1 Peter 4:17

Read just the scripture for today.....don't try to read ahead......what is God saying to you .....just for today ?
Sincere comments and questions welcome comforts@bluefieldassistant.net  and if you have read a commentary for one of the  scripture readings - -PLEASE send me the link.
HOME DAILY BIBLE READINGS
Monday Nov. 9: 1 Corinthians 12:20-26

1 Corinthians 12:26  If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
As the body of believers it is sometimes hard to suffer with those who are suffering and celebrate with those who are being honored.  Be careful not to leave anyone out.  For those we see as the least important are the most important to God.

Tuesday Nov. 10: Hebrews 11:23-28
It was by faith...Moses

It was by faith Moses stepped up and out against things we can not even imagine. How are you using your faith to step up and out?

Wednesday Nov. 11: Philippians 4:10-14

Philippians 4:12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

Learning to rely on others has been one of my least favorite lessons.  Learning to live (as a child of the Most High God) in every situation is a daily struggle for me.  How about you ?
Thursday Nov. 12: Acts 5:27-32

Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.

Seems to me now is the time for Christians to stand up to human authority.  Disclaimer: There will be suffering.  But here in America we are allowing Jesus Christ to be removed from our society...we will sometimes mention God...but shrink to "public" opinion of offending anyone and declare our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Without Him there is no forgiveness.  Without Him there is no Christianity.  Remember God's judgement is going to begin within his own household.  Ouch!  I hate when I step on my own toes.

Friday Nov. 13: 1 Peter 4:1-6

1 Peter 4:1 So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.

Attention Christians THERE WILL BE PAIN AND SUFFERING!  No wonder many Christians today don’t want to read the Bible.
Saturday Nov. 14: 1 Peter 4:7-11

1 Peter 4:8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

Do we SHOW our deep love for each other?  And allow God’s love to cover the sin...or is that another one of those things we just give lip service to ?
Sunday Nov. 15: 1 Peter 4:12-19

1 Peter 4:14 So be happy when you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.

I published a list of retailers who refused to use Merry Christmas in their advertising.  One of my dear friends was lamenting her frustration with me and my mind was thinking ....”oh no, I have offended her maybe I shouldn’t have done that” as she spoke to me I could feel God holding me tightly ...whispering in my ear ...don’t back down ...I AM with you.
:) I love God moments!
