PROCLAIMED IN BAPTISM
Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. Matthew 3:13

The Season of Christmas

Step Toward A Godly Walk uses the International Sunday School Lessons in the hopes more Christians will take Jesus with them throughout the day.  And The New Living Translation of The Bible because that is the one easiest for me to understand and apply to my life.  Maybe if more of us are reading the same scriptures we can use our discussions to expose others to the Living Word of God and the Savior he provided for us all in a positive way.

Prepare your mind to being shaped by God....

Close your eyes and use your breathing to set the rhythm of your prayer.
As you breath in.......relax.....
imagine drawing into yourself
the goodness of
 Jesus.

Love, Forgiveness, Peace, Holiness
As you breath out....relax further.........imagine letting go and giving out:
hate, resentment, revenge, unkindness.

Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. Matthew 3:13
PROCLAIMED IN BAPTISM

Read just the scripture for today.....don't try to read ahead......what is God saying to you .....just for today ?
Sincere comments and questions welcome comforts@bluefieldassistant.net  and if you have read a commentary for one of the  scripture readings - -PLEASE send me the link.
HOME DAILY BIBLE READINGS
Monday Dec. 28: Matthew 21:23-27

How strange that we should be studying baptism this week.  I watched yesterday as two very young girls were baptized. Of course, the church was overjoyed.  But I wonder, how small children can comprehend the repent of your sins part?

Would love to know your thoughts!  comforts@bluefieldassistant.net

Tuesday Dec. 29: Luke 7:24-30
Luke 7:29 When they heard this, all the people—even the tax collectors—agreed that God’s way was right, for they had been baptized by John.

Even the tax collectors who were all known to be crooked agreed God's way was right.....because they had been baptized!

Have you been baptized at any point in your life ? ? ?
Would love to know your thoughts!  comforts@bluefieldassistant.net

Wednesday Dec. 30: John 1:24-34
John 1:27 Though his ministry follows mine, I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal.”

Seems to me Jesus ministry follows whoever baptizes us as well.....are we teaching how to open ourselves to the power of the Holy Spirit....we’ve got God down...and Jesus down...fairly well...it seems to me what’s missing is letting in the Holy spirit.

Thursday Dec. 31: Romans 10:8-17

Romans 10:10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Many have not moved God from their head to their heart. ;(
Friday Jan. 1: Matthew 3:7-10

Matthew 3:8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

Remember the children are watching.
Saturday Jan. 2: Romans 6:1-11

Romans 6:2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

I’m not sure if you can really teach dying to sin to a 12yr old.  What do you think?
Would love to know your thoughts! comforts@bluefieldassistant.net

Sunday Jan. 3: Matthew 3:1-6, 11-17
Matthew 3:13  Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.

Children mock what we do...just like they mock what we say....if we continue in our sins....what does that say to them especially those we take to church every Sunday and encourage to be baptised at 12yrs. old?  Once baptized...we are held to a higher standard than the world around us.  I sure hope we are teaching that part.

Would love to know your thoughts! comforts@bluefieldassistant.net

Your community may not know as much about your church as you think.

In your travels today ask 5 people where they attend church. Then tell them where you attend. Follow-up with do you know where that is?  Give your results to the leadership of your congregation.
